Taipei is wonderful international city with wide a wide variety of music available. Sadly though, the local
jazz scene has always been weak, which is a pain in the neck for jazz lovers in Taipei. You can search the
city's clubs for live jazz music, but it is likely to be in vain, with one exception - the Blue Note really stands
out as a superior place for listening to great jazz music. Although it is small, with seats for only 70 people,
it is quite popular with local jazz fans, who invade the club on weekend nights. In fact, if you go then, you
may well have to wait for a seat.
The Café, which is named after the famous Blue Note record company, lives up to its name, providing
high quality, live jazz on most nights. Regardless of your taste in jazz, you are sure to find something that
you like there. When no live music is playing, the owner plays recording from his vast private collection. The
club also offers outstanding food and unique drinks to accompany the music. As you sip on one of their
many kinds of drinks, you cannot help but relax and enjoy the music on offer. Once you put these elements
together, you are sure to have a good night out! A word of warning though: do not go there if you need to
get up early the next day. Taipei’s best jazz musicians often show up there late at night and play until the
early morning.
